DIN stands for Deutsche Industrial Normale – the uniformity standards developed in Germany which apply to all commonly manufactured products. The German DIN 43650 has now been adapted internationally as EN 175301-803.

The popular DIN 43650 includes a series of electrical connectors designed for use within solenoid valves, particularly those within hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The connector can also be used on pressure sensors and switches, filter, optical, limit and proximity switch applications.

When purchasing the DIN 43650 it’s important to ensure you select the correct version for your application. There are three different connector types (A, B and C):

DIN 43650 Connectors

There are three types of DIN connector

  • The type A DIN 43650 has a 28mm square base and is approximately 27 – 34mm high with 18mm spacing between the contacts. Type A connectors are available with two or three poles and earth and there are many gland sizes available to suit your cable diameters.

  • Type B connectors on the other hand have a 29 x 20mm rectangular base and are 32mm high. There are two applications available – DIN and IND (Industrial) with 10mm and 11mm spacing between the contacts. Type B connectors come in the two poles plus earth version and feature two Gland sizes to suit your cable requirements.

  • Type C connectors have a smaller 15mm square base and are roughly 25mm in height. Just like the type B connector, these are also available in DIN and IND applications and have an 8mm and 9.4mm spacing between the contacts. They feature a PG7 Gland size and two or three poles and earth.

All connectors are suitable for 24, 48, 110, and 230 voltage ranges and can include an LED indicator which is used for diagnostic purposes and can show whether or not the connector is receiving power. Each version can be used with both AC and DC voltages.

DIN connectors have many advantages, including quick valve or coil exchange, excellent insulation, possible water tightness and many more.

Once you have chosen the right connector, it’s crucial to ensure you have the right gasket; otherwise you will not achieve the IP rating and could potentially damage your connector by over tightening the screw. We offer a wide range of gasket materials to suit all specifications. Contact our expert team to find our more.
