Industrial Routers and Cybersecurity

Industrial security and firewalls

Industrial cybersecurity protects networked industrial systems and equipment from attacks, data espionage, failures due to viruses, malware, and misuse. After all, cyber attacks and malware can cause a great deal of damage, from loss of know-how, images, and data to expensive downtime and personnel costs for correcting damage, all the way to demands for high ransom.
That’s why we provide security routers and industrial firewalls that are specifically designed to meet the needs of industry and monitor data traffic in the network. Only the data traffic you want is allowed; unauthorized access attempts are blocked. This increases the availability of your systems.

Security routers for secure remote maintenance mGuard security routers

With the mGuard security routers, you can establish worldwide VPN remote maintenance connections and safeguard your network at the same time with a firewall. The robust industrial routers are available as both DIN rail devices and PCI cards.
You can initiate the remote maintenance connection via either the mGuard Secure Cloud or a suitable mGuard peer. Various designs are available as peers: Portable hardware, desktop devices, 19" devices, or VPN software.

mGuard routers are also available as an option with an integrated 4G (LTE) cellular interface that allows secure high-speed communication in European 4G cellular networks, with AT&T (USA), and Verizon Wireless (USA). With license and function extensions, the remote maintenance routers are also scalable, so they can grow along with your requirements. All mGuard devices can be managed via the mGuard Device Manager central management software and include the option of easy startup via SD card as an alternative.

Industrial 4G cellular routers for infrastructure applications Robust infrastructure routers

The TC ROUTER cellular routers from Phoenix Contact enable robust data links via 4G cellular networks. This allows you to establish a mobile broadband connection for highly flexible site networking even in places where a wired Internet connection is not available.

  • Complete network security with private APN, stateful-packet-inspection firewall, and VPN
  • Cellular routers with extended temperature range (-40°C … +70°C) for all infrastructure applications
  • Universal in application, from SMS and e-mail messages, through lean cloud and remote control protocols, all the way to 4G broadband connection
  • Easy integration into the system via two Ethernet connections or as a WLAN access point
  • User-friendly operation directly on the front of the device and configuration via SD card or web interface

Remote maintenance gateways for the mGuard Secure Remote ServiceCloud Client remote maintenance gateway

The cloud clients connect machines to the mGuard Secure Remote Service securely over the Internet. They are an inexpensive entry-level solution for the scalable remote maintenance of machines. You also have the choice over which medium the VPN connection is to be established. The cloud clients can communicate across lines via the operator network, as a WLAN client, or via 4G cellular networks. They are configured using the mGuard Secure Remote Service and are ready for immediate use in the machine.

The cloud clients also feature on digital input and one output. As a result, service connections to the mGuard Secure Remote Service can be established and signaled as required.

Security Routers

mGuard security routers are security components that are tailored for use in industrial applications. These devices support many security functions, including the following:

  • Increase cybersecurity easily without additional IT knowledge with starter devices via Firewall Assistant
  • User firewall, stateful inspection firewall, conditional firewall: Protect your network from unwanted access
  • Deep Packet Inspection (optional extension): Analyzes and understands industrial protocols (available for OPC Classic and Modbus/TCP)
  • VPN and IPsec: Ensure easy and secure remote maintenance via the mGuard Secure Cloud
  • Redundancy function (optional extension): Increases your system availability
  • Routing to achieve controlled data traffic between subnets and a reduced network load

With license and function extensions, the mGuard security routers are also scalable, so they can grow along with your requirements. All mGuard devices can be managed via the mGuard Device Manager central management software and include the option of easy startup via SD card as an alternative.
